Tom Putt

FOR THE PAST 20 YEARS TOM HAS BEEN FORTUNATE ENOUGH TO BE ABLE TO FOLLOW HIS PASSION - FINE ART LANDSCAPE PHOTOGRAPHY.   Driven by his desire to showcase the beauty of the landscape, he spends many months of every year creating new photographs for upcoming limited and open edition prints and book projects. He first fell in love with photography at the age of 13. Following his love of ornithology, he photographed birds. On leaving university, he pursued a career in sports photography where he covered over 300 events across Australia and the world, including the Sydney 2000 Olympic and Paralympic Games. In 1997, he undertook his first serious landscape shoot, walking the Overland Track in Tasmania. Inspired by the likes of Ken Duncan and Peter Lik, he pursued his landscape photography at every opportunity. Borrowing then eventually buying his own panoramic film camera, he was obsessed with capturing the beauty of the Australia landscape in the best way possible. The large 6x17cms produced far superior prints to the 35mm counterpart. In 2009 Tom published his first landscape books on Cradle Mountain, The Milford Track and the Routeburn Tracks in New Zealand. In 2018, he fulfilled his dream of having his own gallery, opening in Main Street, Mornington, Victoria. Tom has had the privilege to call the Australian wilderness his office, and considers there’s nothing more exhilarating than being surrounded by this serenity. Whether it be standing on top of a mountain, or wandering along an ancient dry creek bed, his heart and soul always feels at home amongst these landscapes. Tom's drive is to showcase the immense beauty and variety of Australia by bringing his art into every home and office. In doing so, he hopes to highlight the importance of protecting what we are so lucky to call our home. And for his artwork to bring people together; to get them talking to one another, challenging their visual perceptions and levels of interpretation, on a deeper and more spiritual level.
